Hoodie for an Amstaff - what should you keep in mind?

Amstaffs, or American Staffordshire Terriers, are very sensitive, extremely active, intelligent, and courageous dogs. They love playing with every family member. They are even positively disposed towards strangers or unknown four-legged friends. However, this requires proper upbringing! Sensitivity goes hand in hand with an unusual susceptibility to stress and trauma. Lost or scared, they may react aggressively instinctively. All kinds of physical punishments are inadvisable for any breed, and with this one, they are outright forbidden, as it can end badly for the owner. From a young age, accustom your dog to the company of other dogs, and it will surely only do good. Above all, you must remember the exercise that this breed greatly needs! You cannot underestimate this, and two walks just to relieve themselves will not be enough. Jogging, longer hikes are something your Amstaff will certainly appreciate.
Fleeces and sweaters for medium-sized dogs
Despite Amstaffs being a medium-sized breed, some of them may need protection during colder weather or various weather changes. Their need for increased outdoor activity leads to various needs. A rain jacket will be useful during rain, and on nicer days with unfavorable temperatures, dog hoodies are the perfect solution. Fleeces and sweaters are also a fantastic solution. There is no rule here that clothes are only for small dogs. Dog apparel was created with their well-being and comfort in mind. It is important to remember that when choosing anything for an Amstaff, the clothing should not restrict movement, be too short, and ideally, it should not have a hood. During running or increased exertion, it might unnecessarily fall over the dog's eyes, which can scare it, and no one needs that to be happy.
An essential gadget or a temporary trend?
Dog apparel is definitely not a temporary idea, and society's awareness of the functionality of clothes is growing. Of course, there are items that are only suitable for special occasions, such as all sorts of suits, tailcoats, dresses, or costumes, although these are not essential. For Amstaffs, one should look for practical items that will be useful when we see that a certain type of weather or varying temperature leads to discomfort. Dog sweaters, hoodies, fleeces, jackets – these are items that will certainly come in handy and serve for many years.
Saturday line sweaters are warm and very soft garments, recommended for autumn and winter periods.
Material for dog clothes – what to look for?
We pay attention to the material. It should not irritate the dog's skin, nor restrict movement, so the dog does not feel discomfort. You should carefully check the dimensions and fit the clothes. However, owners often do not add adequate slack, meaning additional centimeters, which are known as the manufacturer's "measurement error." For medium-sized dogs, you should always add about 3 cm – it's better for the clothing to be a bit looser than too tight. Read also: How to choose a dog hoodie? Our clothes are made from various materials, which are more or less suitable for certain weather. The same applies to dogs. Once you have an idea of what type of clothing you want to choose, you then check the advantages and disadvantages of the material it is made from, e.g., a dog fleece. A fleece should primarily provide warmth to the dog during longer walks, adequate air circulation, and maintain an optimal body temperature. For jackets, we will look at waterproof, windproof materials; for hoodies, what is in fleece; for suits, extravagance and fabric that will look beautiful on the dog while providing complete comfort.

Measuring your dog – how to do it correctly?
Measuring, contrary to appearances, is not complicated at all, but you need to carefully read the attached instructions on how to do it without problems. We measure primarily in three places: - Chest circumference, - Neck circumference, - Length from the shoulder line to the base of the tail. We take measurements with a slight allowance, as requested by manufacturers. For smaller dog breeds, usually 1 or 2 cm are added, but for larger dogs, we recommend adding more centimeters. If you are unsure about the size, it is best to ask the seller for help in choosing the clothing, so that you and your pet can immediately enjoy the new purchase that will be sent to you. We measure the dog when it is standing – lying down, the measurements will certainly be incorrect, and sitting can also lead to inaccuracies. It is best to encourage the dog with treats so that it allows itself to be measured correctly, literally for a moment. We check the neck a little lower than where the dog collar is located – every piece of clothing will "fall" a bit and stop more or less below the collar, which should be taken into account.
How to fasten dog clothing
Just like in human fashion – we can find zippers, snaps, Velcro, buttons, various ties, a wide array of choices! It only depends on the dog what it prefers. Some dogs prefer when clothes fasten on the back, not on the belly, and manufacturers also remember to create such clothing. Many dogs love zippers because they are dressed in a second and can go for a walk. The question is which form of fastening the pet prefers. Putting a dog's hoodie or fleece on over its head may not suit everyone, hence the need to create new clothes to meet the needs of dogs who might feel uncomfortable with that method. Amstaffs are exceptional play companions, with huge sensitive hearts. They will give you a lot of love, but do not forget the basics when raising your four-legged friend.
