Pomeranian on the fashion runway

The Pomeranian is a cheerful dog with a very lively temperament. Curious, active, but doesn't require long walks, loves to potter around. Very attached to its owner, and it's important to remember that Pomeranians don't like being left alone for long indoors. Affectionate and friendly to every household member, but caution should be exercised with children, as they might accidentally harm it, and the dog itself tends to choose a favorite person with whom it would spend entire days on their lap, being petted. It may be small in stature, but it will remain alert and signal any suspicious sound it hears. Similarly, its bravery matches that of larger dog breeds, often forgetting its size. It behaves friendly towards other animals, and newly met people are first observed from a distance before approached. Proud and independent, it easily adapts to any conditions. There is a wide variety of clothing for Pomeranians, and many of them accentuate their beauty and lovely fur.

Fashionable and comfortable clothes for a miniature spitz

Recently, Pomeranians are very often dressed for special occasions in comfortable and airy dog dresses, which work brilliantly for such events for dog ladies. They are most often made of cotton, which in no way restricts the dog's movements or irritates the skin. The material is easy to keep clean, and its hygroscopicity often helps with light rainfall. Similarly, for brave and dignified four-legged friends, a dog suit works wonderfully.

What to do when your dog doesn't want to wear clothes?

Some dogs have trouble wearing clothes – some readily wear anything right away, while others can't quite get over it. The simplest method is to buy a dog T-shirt and put it on them for a few minutes each day, ideally rewarding your pet with treats or playtime. When they have the T-shirt on, distract your pet from what they are wearing. Once they can comfortably tolerate those few minutes a day, gradually extend the time they wear the clothing. It's a matter of time before it's all clear, and they will happily start wearing other clothes that the dog needs. Remember to stay calm and be patient during training – your dog senses your mood and may become very discouraged from further attempts. Read also: Pomeranian on the blog catwalk

Accustoming your dog to wearing a festive coat

When it comes to accustoming your dog to wearing something different for a given occasion, we apply the same rule as above – we buy a T-shirt and start training. With each successful attempt, we extend the time the clothing is worn so that the dog can get used to something new on its body. It's easier with small items, such as bow ties for dogs. We put it on immediately, and the dog should not have problems with accessories. It is important to check:

  • whether the material is suitable for the dog,
  • whether adjustment is present in the given motif,
  • whether there are any sound sources that may disturb the pet.

It's better to check than to cause discomfort. Read also: Outfit idea for a pug

Dog clothing for a walk

When going for a walk, it's important to be prepared for any issues that may arise during your adventures. Some Pomeranians don't like transitional periods, and for such weather changes, a dog jacket with a hood will be excellent. It protects against all precipitation, as well as cold wind. It ensures proper temperature maintenance and air circulation. I am pleased to say that manufacturers of such clothing are not idle, and more and more of them are appearing. Similarly, for nicer but cooler weather, various sweatshirts and sweaters are a great solution, providing warmth and full freedom of movement, which this breed needs so much. They can always be useful for a later period and are often worn under a jacket or a dog raincoat. It's a practical item, easy to store in a bag or purse, which you will surely take out many times. Pomeranians, due to their fur, can easily catch a cold, so it's worth observing how your dog tolerates greater humidity outdoors.

Certain breeds have greater or lesser indications for wearing different clothes, but don't measure them by the same yardstick – just like my Bernese Mountain Dog – he supposedly has plenty of hair and undercoat, but when he sees rain, I have to drag him out without clothes by force ;)
