What accessories are useful when walking a dog?

Dog walks are a true pleasure and a moment of respite for both the owner and the four-legged friend. We can diversify walks in many ways, so it's never boring, and we always find something charming in them.
Dog walking and the law
General guidelines are found in the Animal Protection Act, Article 10a states that it is forbidden to let dogs loose without the possibility of controlling them and without identification marking the owner or guardian. Similarly, we find a small mention in the Code of Petty Offenses, Article 77 states that anyone who fails to observe ordinary or prescribed precautions when keeping an animal is liable to a fine of up to 250 PLN or a reprimand. Neither article mentions a leash, but individual municipalities determine the rights and obligations that apply to us. The penalty for a dog without a leash will certainly apply in Krakow or Wroclaw, for example. There, dogs must be walked on a leash in public places, and additionally muzzled if they are aggressive breeds. They can be let off leash in designated areas or secluded places, but only with a muzzle and under the supervision of a guardian. Check your local laws to avoid legal repercussions.

How often to go out with your pet?
Walking doesn't just have to be for the dog's needs – you can turn walks with your four-legged friend into a form of physical activity that will do a lot of good for both of you. In the summer, I walk my dog more often than in the winter, following the rule – if I'm going to an activity outside the house with the kids, the dog has to come along if I have the opportunity. Of course, I don't let my dog off leash when I see passersby, but I try to give him a lot of freedom so he can also get extra joy from the walk. I tried running with my dog, but unfortunately, my Bernese Mountain Dog is a couch potato, and once I had to call my husband to take him home, and believe me – I wasn't running fast or a long distance because I was just starting my running adventure then. He doesn't like this kind of activity, so if you also have a dog that doesn't enjoy such outings, don't force them.
Collar or harness for a dog?
The question is – do you have a dynamic dog? If so, tugging at the neck can lead to spinal problems in the future, which has been proven, so a harness is an ideal choice for a dog that tends to pull us, as this results from its increased activity. Similarly, a too-tight collar can be dangerous for miniature dog breeds. It can lead to tracheal collapse and cervical spine injuries. Also, dogs like bulldogs or pugs should not wear them due to the anatomical structure of their palate, larynx, and trachea, which can cause breathing problems and oxygen deprivation. The choice of dog harnesses is wide, although it is advisable to consult a veterinarian to determine which will be most suitable for your dog's build and will not cause strain during walks or restrict movement. Walking with a dog - a pleasant duty
Pleasant, indeed, but let's remember our duties and what needs to be watched. Always clean up after your dog – it's not just a matter of good manners, but also safety. Few people enjoy the sight of a park full of dog faeces, so let's take care of that. Similarly, in parks where many four-legged friends can be found, I hide all toys – jealousy among other dogs can lead to conflicts, and who needs that. When taking a dog leash, remember to have an ID tag on it, which will allow the finder to identify the owner in case the dog runs away. A small tag can often save the day. Generally, during a walk, I like to give my dog simple commands so he can also work with me, and if I bring his treats, he trembles at the very thought of getting something to crunch on. In my backpack, I also keep a glowing collar even though he wears a harness – after dark, I prefer us to be more visible, so the collar serves as a signal that someone is moving on the road. I also pack a travel bowl for water and a few toys, and a muzzle. In some places, it is mandatory, so it's better to have it than to face unpleasantness.
Gadgets that will make dog walking easier
All toys can be used in many ways! Fetching a ball or another toy will surely please your four-legged friend. A simple stick from the ground can satisfy a dog and provide a lot of fun! Tracking also works great for me – I hide the dog's favorite teddy bear, and he searches, of course, encouraged by treats. Many owners love playing tug-of-war, which dogs simply adore! Dog accessories that can be used for play are plentiful, and the choice is not small. The only thing you need to see is what brings the most joy. A walk can be a pleasure for all parties, great fun, and also an ideal reason to start living more actively. What do you like to do outdoors with your pets?
